It's the season of change

Hello everyone! I know it's been a while since I've posted, but in my defense…life has been a hectic whirlwind of changes lately! So with this post, I'm going to catch you up on everything that's been going on in my life.

Last Wednesday, my baby brother, sister, and best friend started school. A senior, a sophomore and an 8th grader. This week, I've had the pleasure of staying with my great grandparents and helping out while their son is out of town. Along with being in a different bed and house, I started a a whole new chapter of my life - College.

College is WONDERFUL! It's completely different than high school ever was. I already knew it was going to be different. However, I didn't expect the freedom, laid back atmosphere, or the early dismissal from classes. Another major thing I didn't expect was the dreaded …FRESHMAN 15. Tuesday when I started school, I took a first day of school picture. But to my surprise, within the last year (compared to my first day of senior year picture) I have had some major weight loss.

Unfortunately, I'm fairly positive I've gained it all back just within this past week (hopefully I'm just being overly dramatic but... Ya know how grandmas are). Getting into a routine of a new work schedule, sitting in three back to back classes for an and hour and a half each, getting home late, and the heavy loads of homework have made it a lot harder for me to make healthy choices. While it's easier to run through the drive through or grab chicken tenders and fries from the caf, or maybe eat ice cream out of the tub while doing homework, I know it's not what's best for my body. It definitely doesn't help me to lose weight. I'm planning to use this upcoming week to get into a routine of working out and preplanning my meals. This past week has been set back, but I'm not going to let it bring me down or stop the journey I've embarked upon. I use my first day of school pictures to motivate me to push even further.

This week also brought along the start of football. My brother, who plays left guard for offensive line at Prattville Junior High School. My dad, who coaches running backs and quarterbacks on offense/defense and the offensive coordinator at Autuagaville High School. And my sister, who participates in sports medicine at Prattville High School. It's already time for my favorite season of the year. With all three of them being at different schools, it's surely a hectic week of football for mom and I.

I think that pretty much sums up what's been going on in my life recently. Even though I feel like I'm always going somewhere, doing something, or picking up someone, I'm thankful that the Lord has blessed me with the ability to be busy with my own life and to be busy in my family and friends' lives as well. I hope everyone has a great upcoming week!

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (Matthew 6:34)

Family Fun

Hello Followers of Faith, Fam and Fit. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. With school right around the corner, my family took the time this weekend to celebrate the birthdays in the family from the months of January to August. You may not understand why we did this, so here's a little backstory. For about four years now, our family has celebrated those who have birthdays every two months or so. It's our way of spending time together and celebrating another year of life. Because of busy schedules such as baseball, school, graduation, ect., we haven't had the time. This month, we took time to catch up on lost time and enjoy each others company. Our monthly birthday celebrations are something I will always be grateful for. It's a short period of time that my life slows down, even though it may be for a few hours. I love that I'm actually able to enjoy the company of my family. Sometimes, we can forget about the simple things during the busyness of ours lives, such as sitting outside and enjoying God's creation or laughing about something that isn't even that funny. This week, my challenge (not only to myself but to YOU reading this) is to take a moment to enjoy the little things. The little things in my life include going on a walk with my best friend, joking around with my dad, going shopping with my mom, and the list goes on. This week, I challenge you to do something simple that makes your life slow down even If it's only for a moment, do something that makes your heart happy.

Hello Blogosphere

If you're reading this, there are probably only two ways you got here; you were surfing the internet, bored, and stumbled upon my blog. Or, you're a loved one from Facebook (HEY MOM&DAD) who came to check out what I wrote. I want to start out by saying thanks to my mom and my best friend. When I asked if I should start a blog, they didn't respond with "No, that's an awful idea!" or "Why would you want to do that?". Instead, they said, "Yeah that's a good idea!" and "I'm so excited for you!". This is the start of what is (hopefully) a way to keep me accountable for my actions and a way to motivate others through their personal, spiritual, and fitness journies. I also hope to share a little bit of my family and personal life with you along the way. SPOILER ALERT: I am in no way perfect nor will I ever be. This is just my take on Faith, Family and Fitness and my journey to become a better me.
