Thank you for your service

Dear Best Friend,
I want to thank you. Thank you for being my best friend. Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on, my person I can call at 1 in the morning just to talk, the person who is always down for food dates and car rides. Thank you for listening to my pointless drama no matter if it's family, friends, boys or just life in general. Thanks for being my workout partner and keeping me motivated to lose over 50 pounds. Thank you for being a daughter and granddaughter to my family and letting me be a daughter in your family. But most of all I want to thank you for your service. In 84 short days you will be gone. My best friend who I am so use to having on speed dial will be gone. Gone for 5 months. Even though I will miss you more than anything, I am beyond proud of you for working so hard to get where you are now. One thing that is for sure is I am one proud Air Force bestie. From yearbook to graduations to someday weddings and children, I know we will be forever friends family forever through any and everything. So thanks Em, thanks for going to fight for my freedoms, thanks for sticking by my side but most importantly thanks for being my best friend and rock. Life would be boring without lil em.
With so much love,
Moe

Grandkids Week year 5

Hello to my loyal readers! I know it's been a while since I posted anything but between school, work and family life got pretty hectic there for a little while. But I'm back in full swing ready to catch you up on all things Faith, Family and Fitness.

I want to share something really fun I got to do lately. For the past five years, my Memaw and Pawpaw have taken all six of their grandchild (brave I know) for a week and we've all gone on a really cool adventure. This one week of the year is normally the only week all six grandkids get to see each other out of the whole year, so our time together is always full of laughter, memories and sometimes drama lol. This year we traveled two long days to Branson, Missouri. This year my parents tagged along to try and get in on the fun we have.

Our first activity of the week was to see a comedy show on the strip. We went and saw Presleys' Country Jubilee. When I say that was a funny show, I was a tears rolling, side splitting comedy show. It was both clean enough for the whole family and funny enough for all ages.

Next on the agenda was old time pictures. For the longest time we have talked about taking these and this year we finally were able to all dress up as southern belles and cowboys for some really neat flashback pictures.

Finally the big event was Silver Dollar City. We spent two days at Silver Dollar City riding roller coasters, watching shows and sweating in the summer heat.

This year was one for the books and one I am sure we will never forget! Until next time,

to the girl with the impatient heart

Many girls, like myself, have an impatient heart. Whether it's about love, school or anything in between, I personally have found my heart has been impatient for love lately. My impatient nature is nothing new, but my recent struggle with an impatient heart wanting to find love has been a struggle. I'm not talking about love from family or friends, because I am surly blessed with lots of love from them, the love my heart has been looking for is from a boy. I look around and see people getting married or having a wonderful relationship and instead of being happy for them, I find myself feeling jealously towards them. The Bible says in Philippians 2:3-4 "do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others." We should not be jealous of others for finding that significant other they want to spend the rest of their life with, we should instead be showing humility and having sincere joy and happiness for them. Ladies our time will come one day, the fear of the unknown and the impatient feeling will go away and our prince charming will change that feeling into love, joy and happiness. I recently read a blog post over on the Odyssey's website called "To the girl waiting for him to text back" and she did a fantastic job of explaining what we should be doing instead of sitting around waiting for "the ideal guy" to text us or love us back. It's so hard to live in this society where our main focus is to obtain the comment #relationshipgoals underneath our adorable candid pictures with Mr. Right. However, we must remember it is better to wait for the actual Mr.Right to come along and show us that what we've been waiting for was worth it. Waiting gives us the ability to find the man who is not going to help us obtain the "relationship goals" comments under our pictures but instead obtain a love for God and helping each other strive for the ultimate goal, which is a home in Heaven. But until then we must remember that God has such a bigger plan and knows exactly what the future holds for our impatient hearts. Until then remember these three Bible versus and apply then to your daily life.

1. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 gives an example of the type of love we should be striving for

"Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away."

2. Philippians 4:6 tells us not to worry about things of this world but to pray to God about our worries

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."

3. 1 John 2:16 tells us not to strive for things of this world but for greater things that have yet to come
"For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world."

"New year, new me"

It's a new year and like most people I have gotten into the mindset of "New Year, New Me." Not that this is a bad thing, but most people claim this is going to be their year, they are going to save money, lose weight and become a better person. However, it never ends quite how they expected. At the end of 2016 people will wonder what they did wrong and what they could have done different in order to reach these new year resolutions. I have decided this year I am NOT going to be that person. At the end of 2016 I want to be able to look back and say that I have saved up some money, lost weight and became a better friend, sister and daughter. In order to keep myself accountable to these goals I am going to get you to help me. I plan to post at least once a week about anything but I will be sure to update you on my goals for 2016. These goals include:
  • Meeting my goal weight
  • Save enough money to give my family what they want for Christmas
  • Become a more kind and understanding person
  • Become the best Christian I can be
While these are only my "major" goals of 2016, I feel like they are the  most important things I need to focus on in the new year. What are some of your major goals for 2016?
